Background
Community Self Empowerment Center, Inc. was started in August 2007 by a mother of three. Marie Saintus just overcame battling cancer and other life-threatening illness. Fortunately, with the help of God and family she triumphed and is completely healthy today. She began sharing her story and speaking at different events and locations. Many people were moved by her journey and some wanted her to share this light so they helped her to begin an organization. This Non Profit Corporation primarily targets low-income underprivileged youth in the inner cities. We try to use the resources for people who are most in need.
Providing a positive image and hope for the future are the priorities for this corporation. Allowing a young person to experience the positive things in life helps them make better decisions in the future. We like to promote productiveness and planning and stress the importance of hard work to achieve success. Guiding them in the right direction at an earlier age has more of an impact. But we are not limited only to young people. We hope to aid people of all ages, races, and genders.
Efforts focused on building a stronger and more compassionate citizen will lead to a better nation. Crime rates, dropout rates, death and illness will drop and there will be more technology, college graduations, and all around flourishing society. It is up to us to contribute to making a difference in the world. It starts by one child at a time. We believe that polishing an adolescents character to be secure in having a positive self image will lead to a more responsible generation for the future.
