  • After School Initiatives
We are working on several after school programs for underprivileged kids. Studies show that children who do not participate in extracurricular activities after-school are more likely to engage in risky behaviors. Yet we feel that no child should be subject to an unsupervised or inadequate environment for lack of opportunity in low-income areas. Therefore, we want to attract those who do not and cannot participate in school activities after hours.

  • Peer Support Service
Community Self Empowerment Center includes peer support service. We pair young men and women with the younger boys and girls at the request of the client. We provide a broad range of trained individual so they can identify better with the youth for support and/or supervised companionship. 

  • Targeted Outreach
Community Self Empowerment Center targeted outreach is designed to identify and connect to care those who need mental, medical, educational, or financial support. The goal is to eliminate the barriers that the youth and their family are facing. Lack of information is one obstacle that this program tries to eliminate.

  • Cancer Screening/HIV Testing Referrals
This service is a subcategory of our targeted outreach program. It is centered around two of the several diseases impacting minority families in our scope. We have partnered up with several clinics around the city and share information and upcoming events with our clients.

  • Counseling
We have a group of individuals who received thorough training and experience in providing positive alternatives to self-destructive behavior. Our counseling focuses on mental health needs, domestic abuse, and substance abuse
 

  • Education
This service reaches out to children of all ages. At the elementary and middle school levels, we provide tutoring and supplies in several subjects, including reading and science. For high school students we host seminars and provide information and/or referrals for leadership and career training to prepare them for a higher education and/or job training. 

  • Sex Education
This community-level intervention for young men and women who are sexually active uses a combination of informal and formal outreach, discussion groups, creation of safe spaces, social opportunities, and social marketing to reach other youth practicing safe sex or abstinence.

  • Youth Elevated
The youth elevated program is a social-skills building and educational intervention for adolescents without many role models. This program emphasizes on self-esteem and pride, informs how to identify and maintain supportive social networks, teaches coping strategies to reduce life stressors, enhances awareness of STD transmission and HIV infection risk behaviors, teaches communication skills for negotiating safe sex, reinforces proper and consistent condom use, distinguishes between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and defines types of abusive relationships and their effect on mental health and life choices.


  • Housing (Domestic Abuse & Homelessness)
We offer a small on-site shelter for special cases who are in transition to a permanent location. It is specifically for those in danger during unconventional hours with a certified counselor/supervisor on site.
